About Anne

I was born 2nd child, 1st daughter, in a family of 6 children. My parents had immigrated from Holland just 2 years prior. Becoming a caretaker was inevitable. I graduated from high school in 1976 and from LPN school in 1977. In 1978, I obtained my RN license in May, got my first nursing job in June, got married in July and turned 20 years old in August. I wondered what I’d do for an encore.
I had two children, Seth and Emily. I worked a full time job to support our family and was full time mother while my husband went to college for 16 years.  After 22 years of marriage, we divorced.
Two years later, I said this prayer, "Lord, your Word says that You put the lonely in families.  I'm lonely."   A week later, I met Ray.  We were married in 2003.
Now, with more life behind me than in front of me, and my mother's struggle with dementia looming fresh in my memory, I feel impelled to write about all of it before I forget. But a book project seems so big that I keep putting it off. Finally, I've come to the realization that I don’t have to “eat the elephant all in one meal”. This blog allows me to take “one bite at a time”.

  1. Hi Anne,

I know that YOU know but I want the world to know, that I am SO, SO, SO happy that you are a part of our family!!! You are my sister-in-heart as well as my sister-in-law. God truly blessed Ray & all of us when he brought the two of you together. I'm so glad that you started your blog because I truly enjoy reading your stories.

    Peace, Love & Joy,
